Sew A Nell Dress or Blouse With Jenny - Saturday 10th May

The perfect one day workshop for beginner dressmakers, hosted by our very own Jenny.

Nell is a timeless, easy-to-wear blouse and dress that will be on regular rotation in your wardrobe. Simple to sew, this mix ‘n’ match pattern includes four blouse and dress options and four sleeve styles to choose from, plus optional patch pockets and choice of button-front style or on-trend tie opening. The only question is which version will you make first? 

Size range for this dress is UK 6-34 (bust 30" - 60", waist 24" - 53")

You do need to have some sewing machine experience for this course, ideally having made some simple garments.

Please note, as there are a few techniques involved in this make (especially the dress) - there may be a little finishing off to do at home but we will make sure you are equipped with everything you need to complete your garment.

Jenny Stitches, Unit 1, 78-80 Dalton Road, Barrow-in-Furness.

What's provided

What you will need to bring with you

• Main fabric (please confirm quantities required after booking)
  
  • Suggested fabrics - Light-to medium-weight woven fabrics such as cotton lawn, poplin, chambray, flannel, linen blends, Tencel (lyocell), viscose (rayon). For the puffball sleeve, choose a fabric with body that will hold its shape. The straight sleeve dress could also be made in needlecord or lighter-weight denim.
  • The exact quantities will be provided on booking, as it will depend on what size and style you will be sewing. 
    
• 1m lightweight iron on interfacing
• 10-15mm (⅜-⅝in) wide buttons or sew-on snaps (for faux tie versions): 6 for straight blouse, 7 for peplum blouse, 10 for knee-length dress, or 11 for midi dress
• Matching Thread
• Sewing Machine and Sewing Kit (see below for in house machine use, please let us know in advance if you require a class machine).

Class Sewing Machines and Tools

Here at Jenny Stitches we want sewing to be as accessible for as many people as possible! We have a number of in house Janome sewing machines available for use at no additional charge. We also provide basic tool kits. If however, you prefer to use your own machine and tools, please feel free to bring them along with you on the day.

Jenny is the owner here at Jenny Stitches. With 15 years of sewing experience including curtains, cushions and a lot of dressmaking she's looking forward to sharing her passion with you in the workshop.
