Sew A Shirred Summer Dress With Lucy - Sunday 16th June

Join Lucy here in the Jenny Stitches workshop and try your hand at shirring as well as drafting your own pattern! 

On this no pattern workshop, we will start by learning how to take body measurements and translate that to your own drafted pattern, through to cutting fabric and construction including lots of hints and tips for shirring. 

We say this is a summer dress, but by layering up, it will take you through the colder seasons too!

This workshop will cover;

• Taking accurate body measurements
• Using your measurements to draft your own pattern
  
• Learn how to sew with shirring elastic, from setting up your machine to sewing with it. 
  
• Learn how to create different strap finishes for your dress. 

You do need to have some sewing machine experience for this course, but not necessarily dressmaking experience.

What's provided

• Sewing Craft Room environment at Jenny Stitches, Barrow-In-Furness, LA14 1JH
• Print out booklet of other key information and tips and tricks for sewing your shirred dress.
  
• Pattern paper to draft your own pattern

What you will need

• Fabric (quantities will be confirmed upon booking, as it is dependent on your measurements and desired length of dress).
• Thread to match your fabric.
• 2 - 3 spools of shirring elastic.
• Paper scissors, Pencil and ruler for drafting your pattern.
• Sewing machine and sewing kit (to you can use our in house machines, see below!).

Passionate about sewing, Lucy of Sew Cumbria curates a wide range of sewing classes and sewcials to cater for all skill levels and sewing interests.
