Heading into Autumn I've been keen to make more tops I can wear with jeans that just elevate a casual outfit and spotting the Reynolds Top by Style Arc felt this would be a perfect pattern for this gorgeous viscose of Jenny's.
I've had my eye on this fabric for some time now, the dark floral design appeals to my inner gothicness, its a good weight for a viscose which means if you're scared of using drapey fabrics this could be a good one to try.
It handles and presses well but you get that beautiful swishyness we all love, which is perfect for floaty gathered styles.
The Reynolds Top is a raglan sleeve loose fit top with an elastic open neckline, you have the option of adding rouleau loops if you want a closure but I decided to leave this as an open neckline as I love how it looks.
The sleeves are 3/4 length, loose and gathered into a cuff but it would be an easy hack if you wanted to lengthen it to the wrist.
I made the size 8, I was inbetween sizes so due to the amount of ease decided to downsize by 1 size and I am pleased with the fit. The only adjustment I made was to lengthen the sleeve by an inch as I have long arms and I'm glad I did, the cuffs hit me just below my elbows and are the perfect length.
Style Arc are not known for handholding you through the sewing process, I had one headscratching moment for attaching the elastic to the neckine but fortunately there are clear diagrams for this part which made it clear, along with a video tutorial which I didn't need.
Its a super quick make and I finished this in a few hours so would be great for an afternoon project, I'll definitely make this pattern again, both pattern and fabric are the perfect pairing and I can see me making many more.
